Afghan President Ashraf Ghani
Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has led the preliminary results of September presidential election by 50.64 percent, Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced on Sunday.
Announcing the long-awaited results, Chairperson of IEC Hawa Alam Nuristani told reporters that Ghani was followed by presidential hopeful and government’s Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah who secured 39.52 percent of the votes.
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of Hizb-e-Islami of Afghanistan, has bagged 3.85 percent of the votes.
The remaining 11 candidates had far fewer votes, with the fourth place candidate winning less than 2 percent.

The Ekiti State First Lady, Mrs Bisi Fayemi has promised that the government of Ekiti State, is incurably committed to protecting children against all forms of molestations, to make their future brighter.

Gwiwa local government council chairman in Jigawa state Saleh Ahmad said there is a need for the increase of budgetary allocation to malnutrition in the Northern part of the country.
Zauma stated this while responding to questions from DAILY POST on the activities of Action Against Hunger (ACF) in Gwiwa local government.
He said malnutrition is a monster threatening the lives of children, especially in the Northern part of the country.

A fire broke out at a three-story brick mansion of a chemical plant in the Russian city of Ufa on Sunday, the Ministry of Emergencies said.
There have been no deaths or injuries reported so far.
The blaze has now been limited to an area of 2,000 square meters and there are no residential buildings nearby, the ministry said in a statement.
A total of 135 firefighters are on the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the incident, Xinhua/NAN reported.
